Toshiba Libretto W100

Toshiba Libretto W100

About the Toshiba Libretto W100 EOL - (Price $1,595.00)

With dual 7in touchscreens, this device is really in a class of its own.
To the best of our knowledge this tablet is no longer available at major or minor retailers, and we therefore consider it to be End Of Life or EOL. This is why it's rated 4/10, to distinguish it from currently available tablets. If you've got information to show that this tablet is not EOL, please let us know and we'll update this entry accordingly.

The Toshiba Libretto W100 really is a device like no other, with its dual 7in capacitive touchscreens (one of which replaces the keyboard), it’s kind of like joining two iPads together. For $1,595 it's extremely expensive though even by tablet standards. It also runs Windows 7 Home Premium, which is not really an optimal tablet operating system.

Of course, the screen is the biggest consumer of power in any notebook, and with two screens on this device, don’t expect battery life to be great. Toshiba have done their best to cut power consumption at every other angle, though, including using an ultra-low-voltage Intel Pentium U5400 processor. The Australian variant ships with the extended (8-cell) battery, which adds a bit of bulk to the under-side of the device, but extends the running time from the 2 hours seen with the standard battery, up to a more useable 4 hours.

In terms of connectivity and features it's on par with modern tablets even if the price tag is rather high. The W100 has fast Ethernet (a rarity in tablets), a USB 2.0 port, Micro SD card reader, Fast Ethernet port, audio jack and Bluetooth 2.1; connectivity is certainly solid, that's for sure. Other features include a camera, speaker and microphone. For the right price the W100 is still a good buy. As you would expect from a high-end Toshiba device, the build quality is excellent.
